Finally! The highly anticipated visual biography of the late Tupac Shakur, ‘All Eyez On Me‘, will be released on June 16 this year, on what would have been his 46th birthday.
Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr plays the coveted role of Tupac and takes on a huge responsibility in bringing the infamous rapper’s story to the big screen along with director Benny Boom. Boom’s previous credits includes over 200 music videos for a variety of hip hop and r&b artists and a few television episodes including one for Empire.
A life documented very well by the media in such a pivotal time for hip hop in history, it will be interesting to see how much new information is actually revealed in this movie. The film chronicles Pac’s rise to stardom, the art he created based on his struggles which inspired his activism and profound impact on an oppressed society before being killed at the tender age of 25.
Pac will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 7 April for his contributions as one of the most influential figures in the music world.
